Few if any SBOs I know think Al Gore and his Global Warming boloney (Globolony) are worth a dime…except to him! Regardless of your politics, however, clean techechnology offers business opportunities galore for folks with an entrepreneurial mindset and some imagination. Actually, you don’t even need that much imagination; just this book!
Clean technology is no longer just a social issue be pushed by environmental activists like Al Gore; it’s an enterprise that can give heads-up entrepreneurs an avenue to the business mainstream. For our economy, which has to deal with sky-high energy costs, limited resources, as well as worldwide environmental and security threats, clean technologies—clean tech–provides low-cost superior performance with less waste than conventional energy sources. And, as the authors attest, “promises to be the next engine of economic growth.”
By highlighting the primary clean-tech sectors—“solar energy, wind power, biofuels and biomaterials, green buildings, personal transportation, the smart grid, mobile applications, and water filtration,” authors Pernick and Wilder detail the forces pushing clean tech from La-La land to corporate boardrooms, Wall Street, main street and government offices. What’s more, they reveal how everyone–investors, entrepreneurs, and individuals–can profit from this “next wave of technological innovation.” The authors also discuss the technologies, companies, and regions most likely to benefit most from clean tech, and illustrate to entrepreneurs why the time to act is now! Bill, a great and clear headed review of an excellent and clearly thought out book. As I heard from a friend doing a presentation last week, “I don’t care what your politics are. There is opportunity in the green revolution. It’s about business.”

Great review. Despite the fact that clean/green tech revolution cause is extremely important to me, and that I am an ardent supporter, I fully realize that the only way to bring realism to it is to use it as a business opportunity. Hats off to entrepreneurs who are smelling this opportunity and doing something about it.
