Let There Be Light

I saw him often, "Mr. Light Bulb Man."

His sole job in the 41-story Des Moines, Iowa office building where he works is to enter each floor when needed with a cart full of bulbs and all the necessary equipment to replace darkness with light.

It has to be a highly fulfilling job. He arrives on the scene well-prepared and quickly solves an obvious problem. He immediately gets to see the value of his work and when he leaves—everyone is better off for his having been here.

You know where this is going, don’t you?

That is exactly what you can and should do as a small-business owner. You shed light on problems. You help prospects and customers see solutions that they might not have seen without your special knowledge and experience. You equip yourself with knowledge and answers. You proactively shed light on the products and concepts that will benefit your clients.

You are a Light Bulb Man or Light Bulb Woman in your own right for those whom you serve.  Be proud of what you do as an entrepreneur. Make sure that everyone who comes into your path is better off for having dealt with you and your company.
