BUILD COMPETENCE…BUILD CONFIDENCE
By John Ingrisano on Jul 27, 2007 in Quote of the Day
Of the successful people I know, it has been my experience that that which distinguishes them from others is diligence. They work hard and never stop learning.
They may start with ignorance on a given subject, but they then go on to study it, learn it, master it. It is not so much that they are all that smart; they just work hard and never believe they know enough.
Never stop learning, growing, acquiring information and knowledge. Enjoy the quest.

John, you really nailed a big issue here.
Dr. Steven Covey calls this, “sharpening the saw.” The analogy is that a saw is continually in the process of becoming dull - even if it is not cutting wood, the metal in the teeth is breaking down and getting rusted.
Small business CEOs are the same - we are continually getting dull by being overworked and overstressed.
The answer? Continually “sharpening our personal edge” with continual professional and personal learning.
Another wise sage said, “The more I know, the more I know I don’t know…”
Thanks for reminding us, John.
